Are you getting ready for your next move? I know from personal experience that moving can be one of the most stressful and annoying times of life. No one likes to pack up all their stuff, put it in trucks, and move to a completely different location, all while trying to live some semblance of a normal life in the process. I get it. That’s why I have taken the time to write this article for you. What is this article, you might be wondering? Well, I have compiled a list of tips and tricks that will hopefully help you out during the whole moving process. Moving is a really stressful time, and it makes me sad to think of people struggling and not having a lot of resources to help them. When I was moving into my first apartment, I had very little money and my moving budget was basically nonexistent. Consequently, things were really hard for me and the moving process added a ton of stress onto my already stress-filled shoulders. My hope for you is that you can use my (though this article) as a sort of crutch that will get you from one place to the next, even if the journey is a little rough. With that out of the way, let me go ahead and tell you about some of the moving tips and tricks that I recommend to anyone moving homes or apartments.
The first tip I have for you is something that I sort of already mentioned. I cannot stress enough the importance of creating some sort of moving budget for getting started with your move. As I talked about earlier, I was really poor the first time I had to move and consequently could afford barely anything. If you are in my position, then It is even more advisable for you to create a moving budget. Moving is dangerous because it is expensive, but the expense tends to creep up out of nowhere and all of a sudden will smack you in the face with a ton of credit card debt and all that. So before you go any further, I highly suggest that you take some time to research prices for gas, moving companies and supplies, and all the other things that go along with moving and create a budget that you can stick to. Then, you hopefully won’t be hit with too many financial surprises during your move and can live with a little less stress.
Another tip I have for you is to invest in some serious packing supplies. We all know that moving requires a lot of storage space, cardboard boxes, and other similar things, but I cannot stress enough the importance of having some property packing supplies with which to cradle your most precious possessions and allow for all your items to be shipped smoothly and safely to your new home or apartment. The last thing you need is to have damaged or broken items when you arrive at your new place because you failed to put the proper safeguards in place.
Especially if you are hiring a moving company, it may be a good idea to take pictures of all your fragile items before you move. That way, if the moving company breaks your stuff on the way to your destination, you have proof.
