The different Types of Tape

Yes, there are different kinds of tape. While it may seem like such an insignificant thing, a lot of places need different types of tape. Some of course are unique in the uses and function. Below, we’ll go over the different kinds of tape, and also what the main purpose of each kind of tape is. 

Packing Tape 

Packing tape is really good for cardboard boxes and such. It’s made of acrylic plastic or polypropylene that is coated with an adhesive that’s strong and effective and is used to hold surfaces of both recycled and newer cardboard, and it survives well in both hot and cold temperatures. It has different colors, different designs, and is good for just keeping cardboard boxes neatly sealed, and is a much-have packaging supply 


Masking tape 

Masking tape is one that is known by the term painter’s tape and is essentially paper tape that won’t leave residue or marks n the surface there. It’s used to organize, label, paint, and also craft since it is more temporary in nature. It’s usually blue, green, off-white and some other colors, and is used for a variety of purposes. They also have heat-resistant ones, and the color-coded ones are good for organization 

Duct Tape 

Duct tape is one of the most versatile, because it’s waterproof and strong, and it comes with multiple layers, including an adhesive layer that’s strong, the fabric layer, and the layer of plastic on the top of it. It’s a “repair” tape so it is great if you have to fix something up. This is usually in a gray or silver color and is one of the most all-around nest to keep at home, or around your business. 



Double-Sided 

Double-sided tape has two sides that are sticky, and are good for mounting, bonding, and displaying items. There are actually three types of double-sided tape.  One of them is used for crafting and scrapbooks. The second one is removable for posts, displays, and pictures that can be moved or removed later on. The third type if the double-sided foam type of tape, which is good for sealing stuff, displaying items, and used as well for surfaces which are irregular. Usually, they’re either in clear, white, or white foam, and offer a variety of different colors, width, and even different types of shapes and designs. 

Kraft 

This is water-activated, used to help with shipping and sealing, but are good for different kinds of surfaces The beauty of this one, is that it’s good for corrugated cardboard, and is good even when you have dirt and dust. It also works well in different temperatures, so perfect for shipping as well. This also can be reinforced with some fiberglass yarns in order to offer more protection and strength. This is usually a brownish color, but also available in a whitish color, along with different strengths and lengths to look into. 



Strapping or Filament tape 

This is a long-lasting tape with a bunch of tensile strength, and it’s good for sealing cartons, putting together bundles, and even serving items, and comes with many different strengths, ranging from light to industrial quality tape. This is usually in a clear or white, but also comes in a blue or a black, with many different lengths based on the needs that you have. There you have it, some of the most common tape types that are out there. There are a lot to choose from, and many don’t even realize it, but you have a lot of tape with a lot of different uses that you can utilize almost immediately.
